Worcester Guildhall
Directed by Piers Maxim, the Elgar Chorale is a choir of 30 – 40 singers who sing not only concerts of very varied music, but also give charity performances such as tonight.
The Assembly Room
In the sumptuous surroundings of the Worcester Guildhall Assembly Room, the Mayor and the Elgar Chorale, with Gabrielle Bullock and Tim Watson providing festive readings, you will be entertained by song and poems with wine and a mince pie during the interval (soft drinks will also be available).
This concert is an annual event arranged by the Mayor, to help support charities (it is in the name!) close to their heart during their year in office.
All proceeds this year go to the Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club (Charity Number 519825) whose objectives are “To help and educate young people in the City of Worcester and surrounding districts, especially but not exclusively through their leisure-time activities, so to develop their physical mental and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and to support other charities or charitable purposes in the City of Worcester and surrounding districts.”
There should be something for everyone tonight. From carols old and new, carols for the audience and some items that might not be familiar. There will be readings both fun and more thought provoking. Gabrielle and Tim will amuse and delight you.
There will be a raffle during the evening which will be drawn at the end of the interval during which there will be a free glass of wine and a mince pie for each ticket!
