The Elgar Chorale Visit to Devon

Early in June 2016 some members of the Chorale set off together with partners and a few members of The Friends to spend four days giving concerts in churches in Devon under the direction of Piers Maxim. These concerts were given in Kingsbridge, Tavistock, Totnes and Dartmouth. They were free events with a retiring collection for the benefit of the individual churches.

Accommodation was at Buckfast Abbey where the members enjoyed a fascinating tour by one of the Brothers. During the tour he asked if the singers would sing something and it was decided (spontaneously) to sing Locus Iste (Bruckner) and Ave Verum (Elgar).

On Sunday morning the Chorale joined with the Dartmouth Parish Choir to sing for the morning Holy Communion service at St Clement’s Church before returning to Worcestershire.
