“The Kingdom – Elgar”
Our Director of Music, Piers Maxim says:
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to come and join Elgar Chorale on this Workshop Day, where we will work on one of Elgar’s greatest masterpieces, The Kingdom. Seen by many to be even greater than The Dream of Gerontius, this oratorio was originally conceived as the second of three, the first being The Apostles, and the third was to have been called The Last Judgement, but was never written. It is full of wonderful, stirring choruses such as ‘O ye Priests’ as well as the hushed fervour of The Lord’s Prayer.”
The day will begin at 10.00am with Registration, where you will be loaned a score of The Kingdom, that needs to be returned at the end of the day.
We will then go to the lovely, wood panelled Alice Ottley Hall for the workshop proper.
